AIDS Walk 2007 information

021307_aids.jpegRegistration for AIDS Walk Houston 2007 is open, and even though the event doesn't happen till March 11th, it's not too early to get involved. Register to walk before the March 2 deadline to receive your walker kit and begin fundraising as soon as possible.

Of course, there are other ways to support the AIDS walk. Sponsoring a participant or making a general donation to the fund is easy. You can also volunteer now to help with pre-walk mailings, distribution, phone banks, etc. More volunteers will be needed on the day of the walk to help with setup, registration, water stops, and various other things. If you do attend the walk, make sure to wear your ribbon.

The statistics concerning AIDS in Houston are staggering. One Houstonian is infected with HIV every 8 hours. Since 1981, of those Houstonians infected with AIDS, 57% have died. AIDS Walk Houston aims to raise $1 million to contribute to AIDS Foundation Houston, Inc and Houston-area HIV/AIDS service organizations. The funds that participants raise support education and pediatric programs, provide housing, food, medical care, counseling, and job training to more than 100,000 Houstonians each year.
