8-year-old brings cocaine to school

021907_cocaine.jpgLast week we told you about the elementary school kid who got in trouble for bringing a grenade to school — but it turns out he wasn't the week's only pint-sized miscreant: At another Houston elementary school Friday, an 8-year-old was found carrying cocaine. Seems life is tough in Houston's third-grade hallways.

Authorities believe the Scott Elementary student brought the cocaine from his house, where police arrested two people: Eladio Moreno, the kid's father, who has been charged with possession of a controlled substance, and Juan Cabrero, who was charged with possession of marijuana. The cops also confiscated marijuana and cocaine from the home, KTRK reports, and Child Protective Services placed the 8-year-old and three other children living at the house with friends of the family. "What we're looking for right now is if any of the other household members were aware of what was happening," Estella Olguin of Child Protective Services told Channel 13. "We're also getting the other adults in the house tested for drugs, just to see if it's going to be safe for these children to go home."

The student has been reassigned to alternative school.

Alternative school? Sounds more like the child needs an alternative family.
