Two town hall meetings tonight

022207_culberson.jpgThat's right -- not one, but two town hall meetings this evening, folks. TSU or John Culberson. Pick your poison:

Texas Southern University Advisory Committee

Governor Perry created this special committee by executive order (and we all know how that goes) in January. The committee is required to come up with a fiscal and strategic plan by March 15 for the university, which is in a precarious position right now. Concerned members of the community are invited to offer their suggestions and recommendations for the management and direction of TSU. The meeting will be held in the Sawyer Auditorium on the university's campus.

John Culberson

7th District U.S. Rep. John Culberson will be at Rice tonight to entertain general questions and comments about issues that matter to his consituents. Richmond Rail will be holding a rally at 5:30, prior to the meeting, to demonstrate the widespread and passionate support for rail on Richmond, which Culberson opposes. According to Richmond Rail, every active civic club along Richmond or US-59 between Shepherd and Main has endorsed rail on Richmond and opposes Culberson's 59-to-Westpark option. The town hall meeting begins at 6:30 in Rice's Shell Auditorium, located in McNair Hall.
