Empty Bowls Houston

030207_bowl.jpgFor a minimum $25 donation, diners will receive a simple lunch of soup freshly prepared by the Houston Food Bank Community Kitchen, along with bread and water, and then have the pleasure of selecting a bowl from hundreds of one-of-a-kind, hand-crafted bowls donated by Houston area ceramists and craft artists. The empty bowls will serve as a reminder of all the empty bowls in our community and around the world. All proceeds go to the Houston Food Bank.

When: 11am
Where: Lawndale Art Center and Houston Center for Contemporary Craft


Ray Philips Reception

Ray Phillips' works are highly sought after and collectors around the country wait with anticipation for new works to be released. His work will be on display at the M2 Gallery until March 11th, and the opening reception is this Saturday night.

The Artist's Eye: On Andy Warhol

030207_warhol.jpgKatrina Moorhead will lecture on the works of Andy Warhol, some of which are included in the Menil's permanent collection. An Ireland native, Moorhead received her BA and MFA from Edinburgh College of Art and was was an International Artist-in-Residence at Artpace, San Antonio. This year she will have her first solo museum show at the Blaffer Gallery, the Art Museum of the University of Houston.

Bobbindoctrin at Poison Girl

Come have a drink or several Sunday March 4th at Poison Girl and all profits of the evening will benefit Bobbindoctrin Puppet Theatre. Festivities include some back-patio puppetry, weather permitting. More details to come.

unfortunately, the menil site says the Moorhead lecture on Warhol has been cancelled :(
