Rockin' for the kids

070303_rfr.jpgHoustonist has just about recovered from last night's Light Rail Pub Crawl, so now we're ready to enjoy this beautiful weather and catch the 3rd Annual Rockin' for Rise concert. We told you about the event several days ago on our Live Music Calendar, and it's one that you shouldn't miss.

The benefit music showcase kicked off last night at the Hard Rock Cafe and continues today at the Last Concert Cafe, starting now and ending well after midnight tonight. Over two dozen local musicians are participating this year, playing for free for a good cause. You still have time to catch Bright Men of Learning, The Mighty Orq, Petesimple, Casino, Lee Alexander, Prognosis, and many others. Here's a complete line up of today's concert.

Rockin' for Rise benefits the Rise School of Houston, a non-profit institution that focuses on the needs of toddlers and preschoolers who have developmental disabilities, including Down syndrome. Tickets are still available at the door and are only $10. All of the proceeds go to Rise School. A great cause, some great weather (but bring your coat tonight), and top-notch local music. Check it out.
