Last week, we told you about many of the SXSW bands doing “layover” shows in Houston. Well, Super Happy Fun Land is taking it one step further by hosting the SXSW Overflow Fest 2007, which officially kicked off over this past weekend. Don’t worry, you still have plenty of chances to see several dozen new, independent musicians from all over. If tonight doesn’t work for you, there’s always Tuesday night, Wednesday night, etc. Each night will feature at least 5 bands. Here’s the full schedule.
The best part about Super Happy Fun Land’s festival – it’s a hell of a lot cheaper (and easier) than buying a wristband in Austin and you don’t have to fight quite as big of a crowd. You also get to see these bands in a small house-like setting in the Heights, and sit in old elementary school auditorium chairs (or on the ground, if you wish).
SXSW Overflow Fest
Tonight – Sunday night
Super Happy Fun Land
2610 Ashland Street
Tickets: $8 per night, or $25 for all nights
More SXSW artists can be found at other venues tonight, including Walter’s on Washington and The Mink, which features a great line up, including Houston artists Lanky and Million Year Dance sharing the stage with Snowden. You'll find more of this week's concerts listed in tomorrow's Live Music Calendar.
