Houstonist has their season tickets for Roller Derby, do you? It's one of the best entertainment bangs for your buck, at $10/bout for 8 bouts the whole season is a mere $80 plus applicable fees. Here's where the fee part gets interesting, should you order your very own set of tickets (for the price, you need to have a "Derby Buddy", buy two - we did), order them directly from the Houston Roller Derby website HERE and you won't be paying the not-so-fair-or reasonable Ticketmaster charge. The kicker is, you must buy your tickets before 5:00 p.m. tomorrow, Wednesday, March 14th. Support the girls/ladies of Houston Roller Derby, please - get a pair, or more.
Why season tickets? Why not just pay per bout? Well, for one, the charge we mentioned earlier. Second, you will have a 15 minute window of priority seating over the "gen-ad's" to find a good seat. Lastly, you get some derby shwag with your order - we're fairly sure this is "while supplies last", so, bang the link above and get your tickets as soon as possible.
Last season, Houstonist watched the action just keep getting better and better as time went by. However, the bouts were held in the venerable Arabia Shrine Center (which is a fine facility - and Lone Star was available) and the seats were as flat as the track - this makes visibility tricky, so we had to arrive an hour early and stand around to get in as quickly as possible and wrangle a good seat. This year bouts will be held downtown in the Verizon Wireless Theater (no Lone Star), this should be an overall viewing improvement and there are more transportation and parking options. The first bout is this Sunday, March 18th at 6:00 p.m. - season ticket holders go in the doors at 4:45 p.m.. We can't wait!! More on the opener later this week - as much scoop as we can manage.
