In the midst of all the news about juveniles being abused in prison, Halliburton's motives and who will say what in the (still distant) presidential election, it's nice to run across a heartwarming story about a cat that fell from the fifth floor of a building. Oh, that's not the heartwarming part — this is: The cat's alive and doing well. And she's cute!
Cat, the name the kitty's going by for now, fell from the fifth floor of a parking garage at 3505 Sage Road on Friday. A couple of good Samaritans took Cat to the Animal Emergency Clinic on the Katy Freeway, where she was treated for fractured back feet, a broken tooth and an abrasion on her face. Now she's making friends among the hospital staff: "All she does is lay here and get love," veterinarian Dr. Rhonda Nixon told KTRK. "She's never given us any sign of anger or threat and is one of the sweetest kitties we've seen."
The challenge is, no one knows who Cat belongs to. She didn't have any tags on, and Nixon believes her owner might have been on vacation when she fell. Cat is described as a gray domestic short-hair; she was wearing a pink collar when she was brought to the hospital. "My goal is to find the real owner of the kitty and if we can't do that, then we're going to put her up for adoption," Nixon said. "I think she would make a wonderful pet. She's a really sweet girl." Anyone with information on Cat's owners should contact Nixon at 713.932.9589.
