So here's something residents of Foxwood, a subdivision in north Harris County, probably aren't too happy about: Early Friday morning, sheriff's deputies caught a 14-year-old boy breaking into a home there — and they say he had keys to 23 houses in the neighborhood. The teen apparently got the keys, each with an address tag attached, from a model home in the subdivision. Oops!
The kid was caught at about 2 a.m. Friday when he tripped a silent alarm while trying to get into a house in the 7100 block of Fox Vista Lane. Authorities say he had the keys on him along with $14 in cash that might have been stolen from the home — we guess our mom really wasn't kidding when she used to tell us that crime doesn't pay. Authorities said they think the teen, who lives in the neighborhood, chose the house at random, but they believe he planned to strike again: "He would have probably tried to burglarize or attempted to burglarize other residents," Harris County sheriff's Capt. Steve Whitton told KPRC. "The worst scenario is that he would have entered a residence where somebody was home and somebody could have been injured or killed."
Channel 2 reports that the suspect has been charged with burglary of a building and burglary of a habitation, both felony offenses.
