Tonight Progressive Forum Houston will bring Tim Flannery, author of The Weather Makers: How Man Is Changing the Climate, to speak at the Wortham Center on what he knows best: global warming. His book is renowned as the finest and clearest account on the science behind global warming. It presents the powerful connection between climate change and human activity, and lays out a game plan for halting and eventually reversing the damage that we “weather makers” are doing. Flannery is a regular contributor to The New York Review of Books, ABC Radio, NPR, and the BBC. He has taught at Harvard and is currently director of the South Australian Museum and the National Geographic Society’s Australasian representative.
Mayor Bill White will be on hand this evening to introduce Flannery with his own remarks on global warming. There will be a book signing after the program in the grand foyer. If you can't make it out tonight, you can leave a comment for Eric Berger, the Chron's SciGuy, and tell him what you'd like him to ask Flannery.
And that's just the tip of the iceberg.
