Block party for your ears

070322_wbp.jpgWhen you think of block parties, you usually thing of a cul-de-sac in a suburban neighborhood with hot dogs, red and white checkered table clothed over folding tables, annoying neighbors drinking their Miller Lite while they scream at their kids. Put those thoughts behind you – the Westheimer Block Party is totally different, and much better.

Think of a block party in the Montrose area, the heart of Houston, with over 40 local bands playing. Vendors will be on hand with a wide variety of food, putting your next door neighbor Margaret to shame. There’s still beer, but you’ll probably find more than Miller Lite.

This spring’s block party takes place on Saturday near the intersection of Westheimer and Taft. Almost every local band you can think of will be on a stage, inside and outside different venues in the area, including Numbers, La Strada, Helios, and Mango’s. Local artists like Scattered Pages, Arthur Yoria, Penny Royal, Satin Hooks, Thee Armada, The Dimes, Poison Apple Martini, and much more will be performing.

It’s a great add-on this weekend to the Bayou City Arts Festival, and we recommend making a stop at both.
