Woman fakes seizure to avoid arrest

082306_hpd.jpgSo here's a unique way to try to avoid being arrested: Early this morning, police say a woman pretended to have a seizure so she wouldn't be taken into custody after leading cops on a chase in north Houston. The incident began around 1 a.m. when an officer tried to stop the driver of a pickup truck at the corner of Werner Street and Witcher Lane, near the North Freeway and Tidwell. The driver fled and led police on a brief chase that ended at Spreading Oak and Bloom; when the driver was put in a squad car, she faked a seizure, but paramedics checked her out and decided she was lying — so she ended up being arrested anyway. Nice try, though.

The woman was wanted for outstanding warrants and could be charged with felony evading arrest, KPRC reports. According to KTRK, officers believe the woman and two passengers in the truck were high and drinking when they were pulled over; Channel 2 says drugs were found inside the truck.
