Rep. Cohen to discuss education with District 134

032907_cohen.jpgHouston politicians really are men and women of the people. Tonight, State Rep. Ellen Cohen will host a town hall meeting at Rice University to hear from her constituents about education in Texas. There will be two presentations, one by former Lt.-Gov. Bill Ratliff, of Raise Your Hand Texas, and a second by students from Lamar and Bellaire High Schools discussing tuition deregulation. After this, there will of course be time for comments and questions from Cohen's constituents. Cohen has high hopes for the meeting and for bringing about a bipartisan solution to the problems with education in our state (from her website):

We all, regardless of party, know how important the issue of education is to our district. This evening should be a great opportunity for parents, students, and everyone concerned about education in Texas to come together.

Ellen Cohen was recently elected to the position of State Representative, beating incumbent Martha Wong in the election to represent District 134, which includes River Oaks, Meyerland, and West University.
