Eco-Art Boat Adventure: Galveston Island & Bay

04052007_heron.jpgArtist Boat, a not-for-profit organization whose mission is dedication to promoting awareness and conservation of coastal margins and marine environment through arts and sciences, is hosting a boat adventure this Saturday on West Bay in Galveston from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.. This is a kayaking/canoeing adventure, during which you get to create a water color picture to keep! Paddling and safety instructions are included, for those who have not kayaked, or just need a refresher. The trip costs $25/per person, if you provide your own kayak/canoe, and paddle(s), or you can rent equipment for an additional $25 per person. Art materials are provided, but, you will need to bring a lunch and water. Reservations are required, the location will be disclosed via e-mail, once your reservation has been confirmed. This is a great way to spend a beautiful Saturday with friends, or make it a family event! Children age 10 and up are welcome if accompanied by a legal guardian.

Become more familiar with Galveston Island & Bay, Galveston Island State Park while cruising the marshes like the original "snow birds", the Karankawa Indians, who wintered there. You may spot herons and many other types of wild life indigenous to the area. For additional information, please phone 409.770.0722.

Just remember - reservations are required & you will need to pack a sack lunch and some water. Oh, and wear some water sport type apparel - no high heels or mini skirts.
