Houstonist Flickr Photo of the Day - The Saga of Berthea Street

Battered Berthea Berthea Revisited

Today’s Photo of the Day comes from flickr user and Houstonist photo contributor erinen31.

Both of these photos have appeared in the Houstonist Flickr Photo Group at different times. These photos are documents of the saga of Berthea Street. If you click the image you can get the full story. In a nutshell, developers have destroyed the old-timey street signs embedded with tile in the concrete. Commentors on the photos have suggested contacting City Council as well as using the city's 311 Helpline. The preservationist in Houstonist hopes that things turn out for the best and that erinen31 keeps us updated. Good luck Berthea Street.
