Today’s Photo of the Day comes from flickr user and Houstonist photo contributor T3o who's kickin' it old-school with a Canon AE-1. That's a film camera for all you digital heads out there. Believe it or not, there was a time when cameras used film instead of digital media. Back in those days, you put film in the camera instead of some form of digital media. The film was limited to usually 12, 24 or 36 shots. No deleting or on the fly editing. Photos were taken and then you had get them developed. Sometimes it would take days before your pictures were ready. When they were returned, you paid for them, were pretty much stuck with what you got and they were printed on paper. Simply amazing.

And AE-1's made great photos. AND, with a little training and equipment, you could even do all the developing yourself, rather than sending them away... Might go dig mine out of the closet just to feel that cold metal.
I also have an AE-1 - and I agree, it took amazing pictures! I may have to go find mine as well, probably buried underneath a pile of CompactFlash cards and USB cables...
Haha JB, it could also be under all the batteries too!
My dad had an AE-1. He taught me how to take pictures on it when I was seven. I used to get folks to hold up a finger so that I could focus. The scrapbook is full of family photos with at least one person holding up a finger.
