Salon Series features French Exhibit, French Films
If you haven't made it to the MFA to view the Masterpieces of French Painting on loan from MET (um, whatcha waiting for?), this weekend's Salon Series would be a good time to get that taken care of before the exhibit leaves Houston on May 6th.
On select Saturday evenings (beginning this weekend), Starbucks transforms the Audrey Jones Beck Building of the MFAH into a French Salon.
Outdoor seating, live performances by Two Star Symphony, silent French films by Georges Méliès, and free form street performances, convert the porte cochere into a French café. DJ Sun saturates the mezzanine level with the sounds of Paris, while a rotating schedule of intimate performances and readings in and out of the galleries amplifies your viewing experience.
With additional performances by:
Tenor Christian Guajardo
Poet Lacy Johnson
Author David MacLean and more.
Admission price includes admission to and docent assisted tours of the immensely popular exhibition The Masterpieces of French Painting from The Metropolitan Museum of Art: 1800 — 1920, complementary Starbucks beverages and a cash bar.
