MET Exhibit at MFAH Leaving for Good May 6th

Art lovers! Don't miss this fantastic exhibition currently at the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston. The MFAH was selected as the sole American museum to host a traveling exhibition of 135 of the most well-known works of art in the Metropolitan Museum of Art's substantial collection of 19th century European masterpieces. This was the first time many of the pieces had left the MET since their acquisition and it's not likely any will ever make their way back to Houston once the exhibit closes. Take advantage of this once-in-a-life-time opportunity while you can!

As we mentioned before, the exhibit features important works by such luminaries as Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres, Eugène Delacroix, Édouard Manet, Edgar Degas, Claude Monet, Paul Cézanne, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Vincent van Gogh, Henri Matisse and Pablo Picasso.

Among our personal favorites from the exhibit -

Seurat

Van Gogh

Degas

Bastien-Lepage

Fellas, can we talk privately for a moment, mano a mano? Ladies, go ahead and skip this paragraph while we talk to the guys. So maybe going to the museum is somewhere between going to brunch and getting a manicure on your list of social priorities, but allow me to suggest that there are other reasons you might be interested in attending. Maybe you can't tell a Picasso from a Pollack, but in the land of doing things to impress your girlfriend, attending a museum exhibit, which we think you'll find surprisingly interesting by the way, is among the least painful. Seriously, the next time you get invited to a couple-shower wouldn't it be nice to have that time y'all went to the museum together to remind her about? Just something to think about...

Tickets are still available at the MFAH website. In our experience it is highly recommended to purchase tickets in advance and arrive early. If you're not already familiar with the paintings, the audio-tour is highly recommended.
