40th annual WorldFest begins tonight

042307_worldfest.jpgThis year's WorldFest - Houston, an international film and video festival begins tonight at AMC Studio 30 (@ Westheimer and Dunvale). The festival will premiere 58 new international independent feature films and 68 new international independent short films, from over 500 international directors. This year honors Italy, with 3 new Italian films and 3 classic retrospects.

Tonight the festival begins with the world premiere of One Long Night, directed by David Siqueiros. The film is about a "young Mexican-American businessman from Orange County whose life is changed over the course of one night through a series of off beat and hilarious encounters with the denizens of Mexico City." A full schedule of the festival, which ends on April 29, is available here.

Tickets are also available online, with a number of different price tiers. You can see all the shows for as little as $100, or any one show for $6 or $8.50. There are also add-ons like seminars, parties, tours, etc. that you can upgrade to.
