Houston music legend book signing

070430.jpgHouston native and country music legend Johnny Bush will be appearing at Brazos Bookstore tonight, to sign copies of his memoirs Whiskey River (Take My Mind): The True Story of Texas Honky-Tonk.

Bush was born in Houston, but found himself traveling to central Texas as a teenager, trying to make it as a country singer. A decade later, Bush played with several different bands, including Ray Price’s and Willie Nelson’s – where he became a huge success, penning one of Willie’s signature songs “Whiskey River.” His memoirs take him through the high times, and low times (including his voice problems that kept him from recording after the peak of his popularity.

If you didn’t catch Johnny performing at iFest yesterday, you can at least meet the legend in person tonight, and learn a great deal about Texas music.
