Good morning, Houston. We managed to miss this news the other day, but according to CNNMoney.com, Harris County has the sixth most millionaires of any county in the U.S. There are 99,504 millionaire households in Harris County — that's 8.25 percent of all households in the county and 16 percent of the state's millionaire households. Topping the list is Los Angeles County, with a whopping 268,138 millionaire households. And not among the top 10: Dallas County.
>> A new home for the Dynamo?: KHOU reports that the Houston Dynamo and the city of Houston will sign a deal today for a new downtown soccer stadium to be built on a parking lot just east of Minute Maid Park. The $70 million-ish stadium would hold between 20,000 and 22,000 people; details are expected to be announced by mid-July, at the end of the negotiating period. "It doesn't mean a deal has been reached," Dynamo President Oliver Luck told the Chronicle. "It just means that within certain parameters we've agreed to sit with city and try to hammer out a deal." In other news, Sugar Land withdrew its stadium offer Monday.
>> It's safe! No, really!: The Harris County Toll Road Authority is trying to figure out what's causing deep fissures on two overpasses along the Westpark Tollway. The cracks are at least six inches deep and run alongside the drains that parallel the roadway; it's not clear how they started, but they're nothing to worry about — maybe. The county is bringing in an engineering firm to run tests to figure out how far down the cracks go and whether they might be affecting the road structure.
>> Today's weather: Still hot and potentially rainy today — expect a high of 91 with a 20 percent chance of showers, mostly in the afternoon. The chance of rain will stick around until about 10 tonight, with skies clearing for a while and a low around 68. Our best chance of rain this week comes tomorrow, followed by cooler temperatures and sunnier afternoons. We can't wait.
