Houston Roller Derby action kicks up this Sunday! Come out to "Mayhem" and see some serious flat track action! You can purchase $10 advance tickets today at their official website, otherwise, tickets are available via Ticketmaster in advance for $12 plus any applicable fees or $15 at the door. Seriously consider purchasing the balance of the season on a season ticket package - you get a calendar and a t-shirt! Doors open at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 20th at the Verizon Wireless Theatre, unless you have season tickets - then you get in fifteen minutes early. The bouts commence at 6:00 p.m. and are sure to be action-packed!!
Houstonist would like to remind you of two things if you arrive early enough to be all "front row". First, if a skater comes flying right at you and you are seated on the floor, raise your beer - sure, you're saving that expensive event beer - most importantly, you are keeping the track safe for the skaters. Second, and seriously important DO NOT LET YOUR CHILDREN UNDER TWELVE SIT ON THE FRONT ROW! We have horrible visions of your precious little kiddo, weighing in at all of less than 45 pounds dripping wet, being crushed like a bug by a high speed flying body of about a hundred pounds or so, wearing weapons on her feet - we consider it common sense, however, our experience as a season ticket holder has proven us wrong, every time. Other than that, go and enjoy the event - it is some serious fun! The after party will be at Jet Lounge, located at 1515 Pease. Half time entertainment will be provided by Competitive Latin Ballroom Dancers Irsan and Cami.
