In less than one week after Jeff Van Gundy was fired, the Houston Rockets have tabbed Rick Adelman as the next head coach. Sources close to the situation have stated that the Rockets will fly in Adelman on Tuesday and the official press conference will be held Wednesday at the Toyota Center.

Adelman was recently the head coach for the Sacramento Kings from 1998-2006 leading them to the playoffs every year including three trips to the Western Conference Finals. Adelman has also been to the NBA Finals twice in 1990 and 1992 while coaching with the Portland Trailblazers which featured U of H alum Clyde Drexler.

Notes: Rick Adelman was drafted by Rockets in the seventh round in 1968 when the team was originally located in San Diego. For his career, Adelman is 752-481 for a .610 win percentage; which is the highest for a head coach without an NBA title.
