A man who police believe is responsible for 11 incidents of sexual assault in northeast Houston struck again last night. The man climbed into a home at Firnat and Lomax around 2:30. The woman who lives there reported that she heard him climb in and saw him standing in her kitchen, watching her 10-year-old daughter sleeping in the living room. The woman initially thought the man was her husband, but soon realized she was mistaken. She screamed and the man ran away, with her husband chasing after him. All the family members escaped the incident unharmed.
This man is believed to be responsible for similar crimes in this area. The predator's MO is to enter homes through unlocked windows or doors and crawl into bed with women and children. His victims have ranged in age from 4 to 64. A neighbor had called the police earlier that night to report a man standing in her yard. He is believed to be the same man as well. Of course, people in the area are advised to keep doors and windows locked and to exercise extra caution.
Police are searching for the man, who has been described as Hispanic and in his 20s. He is 5 feet 5 inches to 6 feet tall, weighs 145 to 165 pounds with a thin build and has short black hair. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a blue or black shirt, according to different reports. Authorities searched the area with K-9 units, who were able to pick up a scent and follow it for nearly a mile before losing it. Anyone with relevant information should call Crime Stoppers at 713.222.TIPS.
