Suspect arrested for north Houston sexual assaults

052307_predator.jpgA man believed to be a serial sexual predator in north Houston was arrested this morning in connection with a string of 14 sexual attacks. But he may not be the only guilty party. The last attack was early Wednesday morning, but this string of break-ins and assaults began in January. The frequency of the attacks has increased dramatically this month, though. The perpetrator would reportedly break in to homes and climb into bed with women and children, then fondle them while masturbating. At least six of the incidents involved girls under the age of sixteen, but victims have ranged in age from 4 to 64.

Police arrested one man in connection with a January 13 attack, but they believe there is at least one other person behind the succession of assaults. Another incident occurred early this morning, but this was likely a copycat predator, since the suspect was already in custody. The copycat predator may also be responsible for yesterday's attack for the same reason. The identity of the suspect that has been arrested has not yet been released. He has been linked to at least two of the attacks.

A news conference is scheduled for later this morning, where detectives will likely reveal more information about the case.
