El-P Performs at Numbers Tonight
Happy Memorial Day, folks. If you are like us, your would like to negotiate for another weekend without so much rain. We are preparing the petition. One of our favorite things to do while it rains (or pretty much any other time), oh get your minds outta the gutter, is catch some live music indoors. Last night's Elliot Lipp show at the Proletariat, really got us in the mood. Musically.
We've been excited about tonight's El-P show at Numbers ever since we caught his dynamic set at Coachella this year. Former founding member of Company Flow, the Brooklyn rapper recently released his second full-length solo album earlier this year. We love the fact that more and more, Houston is landing on the radar of talented artists like El-P.
If you're in doubt of reach of this guy's musical arms, El-P has contributed productions and guest raps to albums by DJ Krush, Aesop Rock, Murs, Cage, Mr. Lif, Prefuse 73, Del tha Funkee Homosapien, Mike Ladd, The High and Mighty, Aceyalone and Atmosphere. He was selected to work on Rage Against the Machine frontman Zach de la Rocha's solo album (which never materialized). His cinematic debut provided the soundtrack for the graffiti film Bomb the System.
No stranger to festivals this year, El-P will be playing Bonnaroo in a few weeks, in support of his new album "I’ll Sleep When You’re Dead." Released March 20th, the album includes guest appearances by Trent Reznor, Mars Volta, and Cat Power. Yowza! Talk about big hitters.
If we still haven't convinced you tonight's show will be fanstastic, well, you can just go play outside in the rain. We'll be at Numbers.
