Make Houston Kiplinger's best city

052907_skyline.jpgWe know we don't have to tell you what a stone-cold amazing city you live in. But, apparently, we do need to tell the folks over at Kiplinger. The publication recently ranked their best cities and Houston didn't make the list. But, you have a chance to vote for your favorite city in a reader poll now, and guess who's in third?

Houstonist was tipped off to this poll by Houston Strategies. Kiplinger, from their website, is an "organization that has led the way in personal finance and business forecasting." They used lots of different criteria to come up with their original list, including job growth, per-capita income growth, patents per capita, and measures of tolerance and diversity. We're not sure exactly how Houston didn't make the cut, but at least we have an opportunity to prove ourselves, right?

Houston is in third place with only 31 votes right now, trailing Roanoke, VA, with 725 and Madison, WI, with 510. Roanoke? Does anyone even live there? We figure that if a lot of our readers click on Houston once a day, we can move pretty far up the list, perhaps even - dare we be so bold - to first. So vote, vote, vote.
