The Astros 2007 free-fall continued at Minute Maid Park on Tuesday as they dropped their 10th consecutive loss by losing to the Reds 4-3. The Reds attacked Wandy Rodriguez (2-5) for three first inning earned runs that would put the Astros anemic offense against the wall.
Reds center fielder Norris Hopper got the game started on a lead off double and then scored on Alex Gonzalez's single for the 1-0 lead. Ken Griffey Jr. then would follow on a double scoring Gonzalez and New Caney, TX native Adam Dunn scored Griffey for the 3-0 lead.
In the bottom of the first frame, Carlos Lee would score his National League leading 46th RBI as he doubled in Morgan Ensberg to put the game at 3-1. After his first inning beating, Rodriguez would settle down and throw four scoreless innings before giving way to reliever Dave Borkowski in the sixth inning who gave up an earned run to give the Reds a 4-1 lead.
The Houston team would battle back in the seventh and eight innings to cut the deficit to 4-3, but Reds starter Aaron Harang would set the Astros down in order in the ninth inning for his six win of the year.
Notes: Brad Lidge continues his torrid May by pitching a scoreless ninth inning. The former All-Star is 1-1 with a 1.17 ERA this month
