Ok, as in the vein of Scholarly Pursuits, so must you Git Literated. Book time. One of Houston's few nonB&N bookstores, Brazos, is supplying those in need of re-love for the English language with some excellent material. Literature, that is. And by literature, we mean the byproduct of political celebrities. Specifically, John Kerry and Molly Ivins. Accordingly, June 1 and June 2.
Friday, June 1, Brazos Bookstore welcomes Senator and ex-mightabeen president, John Kerry. Kerry is promoting, reading from, and signing his new book, This Moment on Earth: Today’s New Environmentalists and Their Vision for the Future. Gore-y, isn't it? John Kerry is still handsome and a bit hunky and in Houston! Pinch yourself and us while you're at it.
Saturday, June 2, Brazos Bookstore celebrates Texan journalist and liberal hell-raiser Molly Ivins. In January, Ivins passed away following a long battle with breast cancer. Tribute her work and her general audacity in calling Bush a Shrub at this celebration of her life and work. Lots of special guests will also be on hand - like Ivins' brother - to live it up for the Southern gal.
