Jerry Seinfeld at Jones Hall
What's the deal with Jerry Seinfeld? He's part of the brains behind Seinfeld, TV Guide's greatest TV show of all time, and Wikipedia reports that he's earned more money for the portrayal of a single character than any actor ever. Not bad, for a show about nothing. The man himself, Jerry Seinfeld, will grace Jones Hall with his presence this evening for two stand-up comedy shows at 7 and 9:30.
Seinfeld was already the master of the stand-up comedy domain when Seinfeld debuted in 1990. His comedy routine hasn't changed much since then, so the show's fans won't be disappointed tonight. Seinfeld aired for nine very successful seasons before Jerry called it quits. Since then, he's mostly avoided the "Seinfeld curse," writing a book that topped the New York Times best-sellers list, continuing his stand-up, appearing on TV and in commercials, doing the talk show circuit, and raising his three young children. Oh yeah, and living off the $225 million he made when his series was sold into syndication. Nice. We, along with the folks at TBS, think he's worth it.
So you can head out to Jones Hall tonight for a lot of "have you ever noticed this" and a lot of laughs. Or you can stay home - not that there's anything wrong with that.
