Houston Executive Airport gets new Jet Center

010607_piaggio_plane.jpgSo the next time you are flying your private jet into Houston after a “rockstar” weekend with Jay-Z you will have a new choice in landing spots. Houston Executive Airport, located off of Highway 90 just west of Katy, is set to break ground on the Henriksen Jet Center facility. The two-story facility will have a passenger lobby, pilot lounge, theater room and office / meeting rooms and is set to open in 2008.

Houston Executive Airport is the brainchild of Ron Henriksen, who decided Houston needed an airport that catered to the west-side community - to replace the closed Andrau Airpark - and which could not be touched by redevelopment (the eventual fate of Andrau). The airport currently has a single 5,000ft runway with hopes to expand to 7,000ft in two years.

By the way, if you are planning to have a “rockstar” weekend with Jay-Z, can we tag along?
