Houstonist iMix: June

The first day of June, which means summer is upon us. It also means that it's time for another Houstonist iMix! Here's a collection of what Houstonist is currently listening to.

We're ready for summer to begin (minus the extreme heat, humidity, and hurricane potentials), so we started the mix out with a few party songs: a new one from L.A. Latin/rock band Ozomatli; a classic summer song from Jimmy Buffett; a catchy hip-hop song from K-OS; and, a lazy summer day song from Hawaii native Jack Johnson. All of that is followed by a new song from Wilco's latest CD Sky Blue Sky. Some other new tracks include independent artists Elvis Perkins, VietNam, and Jonathan Coulton. Check out the nine-year old track from Patty Griffin's rocking days, "Tony." We wrap it up with a classic oldie from Buddy Holly.

A reminder on how it works: Houstonist contributors submitted a song or two that they can’t get enough of right now — some old, some new. Then, we threw our tracks together and created our own iMix on iTunes. If the song wasn’t currently available on iTunes, we had to delete it (which usually only affects the more regional music). So, if you have iTunes on your computer, you can now download our iMix, or, if you’re afraid of commitment, you can download the tracks individually.
