So here's a new twist on the old attempted robbery story: In Pearland, a man tried to rob his wife's pizza restaurant Monday — and now both man and wife are charged with aggravated robbery.
Here's how it went down: Police say a man grabbed an employee of the Little Caesar's in the 5400 block of Broadway on Monday morning as she left the restaurant with a bank deposit bag. The man said he had a gun and the two struggled over the bag, but the guy ended up leaving without the money. Witnesses gave police a description of the man and his car and his license plate number, which enabled the cops to trace the car to a residence in Stafford. There, police arrested Alfonso Aguilar and found a black plastic pistol that shoots foam pellets — apparently the gun he claimed to have when he tried to rob the woman.
Here's the kicker, though: After arresting Aguilar, police noticed that he had the same last name as the Little Caesar's manager, Mariella Aguilar — and sure enough, it turned out that he was her husband. After questioning by police, Mrs. Aguilar was also arrested. The Aguilars are being held in the Pearland jail on bonds of $60,000 each; if they're convicted, they could face life in prison.
