Morning Roundup: O Canada edition

Good morning, Houston. Ever wondered how our state's economy stacked up against the rest of the world? Maybe not, but now there's a map that tells you, whether you care or not. Texas' economy is about the same size of Canada's in terms of GDP, making it the second-largest in the country (we fall behind California, which is comparable to France). Coming in dead last is Wyoming, which was renamed Uzbekistan.

>>Wind farm a no go: Plans to build a wind farm in south Texas were scrapped
by the developer yesterday. The wind farm was supposed to be located offshore and would have been the world's largest offshore wind farm. The developer, John Calaway, said that the plan does not make economic sense. He said offshore wind farms on the East Coast are more viable because of land constraints and higher energy prices in the region.

>>Cheese not just for mice: There's a dangerous new drug that's gaining popularity in Dallas. It's known as "cheese heroin" and targets teens because it can be bought very cheaply. The drug is a mixture of heroin and over-the-counter medications, which is a lethal combination. Dallas officials are trying to raise public awareness about this problem. So far, 146 teens have been arrested for possession of cheese and there have been 21 deaths involving the drug since 2005.

>> Today's weather: Very un-Canadian. Things will start off OK this morning, but there's a chance of isolated thunderstorms after lunch. Temperatures will not fluctuate from what they've been all week, falling between 93 and 74.
