Houston Symphony Summer Nights
The Symphony must have heard what you said about Miller Outdoor Theatre, readers. Tonight they will perform a concert at the auspicious venue, and - like all Miller events - it's totally free. It might be a little wet, so remember that tickets for the covered seating area are available at the Miller Theatre Box Office between 11:30 am and 1:00 pm on the day of the performance. Remaining tickets are given out one hour before curtain. Reserved, ticketed seats will be held until 5 minutes before the performance starts. We prefer to sit on the hill anyways, but we do advise at least bringing a blanket or lawn chairs.
Tonight's performance will be conducted by American Symphony Orchestra League Conducting Fellow Rebecca Miller and will include pieces by Kodály, Mendelssohn, and Elgar. Symphony Summer Nights is a 60+ year tradition in our fair city and was voted the “Best Reason to Stay in Houston during the Summer” in the 2005 Houston Press Best of Houston awards. Impressive.
This is only the first in the Summer Nights series, so if it rains on your parade, don't worry - you can always catch them next time (June 16, 22, or 23).
