Happy Friday, Sports Fans! We are watching our Rice Owls kick off the NCAA College World Series. We are addicted to sports - local sports - all of them! Houston can be a sports heartbreak waiting to happen! Speaking of breaks (and we seriously, seriously hope there are none - we were there when Catazon suffered hers!) some flat track action is gonna bust out on Sunday at 6:00 p.m.! Come on out and get some of the best entertainment bang for your buck as the HaRD Knocks (Houston Roller Derby's official travelling team) takes on The Alamo City Rollergirls Las Tejanas and HaRDer Knocks skates against Austin's Honky Tonk Heartbreaker's. This marks the first WFTDA Interleague home challenge as three Texas cities come together for two action packed bouts this Sunday. The afterparty is next door to the Verizon Wireless Theater at ROC bar.
Get all warmed up on the 16th and meet all three teams the night before the bout at the "Big Top Social" from 9:00 p.m. until midnight at Christian's Tailgator's, located at 2000 Bagby @ Pierce. Christian's is kind of medium to small-ish - guys, there should be wall-to-wall chicks to ogle.
As always, we feel obligated to remind you: should you attend the bout with your children (what a Father's Day gift HRD would make!!) please be sure that your little ones under the age of 12 DO NOT sit on the floor at the edge of the track, they may get smashed by a flying rollergirl - on accident, of course. Also, be prepared to hoist your beer - spillage on the track results directly in "roller girl complete loss of control" which then increases the odds of spectator smashing. Save that high dollar event beer, at all costs. We will also remind you that the Shiner Bock is the best bang for your buck and brewed in Texas - you really can't go wrong there.
