Two Gallants return to Walter's

070618_twogallants.jpgCalifornian indie band Two Gallants returns to Walter's on Washington tonight for a free show. It's the band's first visit to Houston since their scuffle with the law at the same venue last October. Since the charges against the band were dropped a few months ago (and since the band has a new album coming out tomorrow), Two Gallants is offering the free show as a gift to Houston and to "put a bit of closure on this situation."

To jog your memory: their concert at the vintage concert venue on Washington Avenue was cut short when policed arrived, responding to a noise complaint made by a neighbor. When the sound person failed to turn down the volume, the police went to the stage and approached the band members. The crowd got involved, and some of the trouble was caught on videotape, leading to accusations of harassment on both sides of the aisle.

We're happy to see that Two Gallants have no hard feelings for their Houston fans and decided to stop here for another show. What we worry about is what might be an ongoing controversy with older concert venues and their new neighbors. Much like Walter's on Washington, we noticed last weekend that new luxury townhomes have been built and are up for sale right behind The Proletariat. Will we see the same problem here when these nw neighbors decide that the club needs to quiet down? Only time will tell.
