If you’re bored with the usual guitar, bass, drums, and vocals of your everyday rock band, and are looking to experience something different in a concert – boy, do we have a treat for you. We have a pair of tickets for Monday night’s Polyphonic Spree concert at Warehouse Live.
The Polyphonic Spree was developed by former Tripping Daisy’s front man Tim DeLaughter. The Dallas-based band sprung to life in 2000, and was a far departure from Tim’s former alternative rock band. TPS’ fluctuating line up (between 10 and 27 members) consists of a 10-person choir, keyboardists, drummer, bassist, guitarist, flautist, trumpeter, trombonist, violinist, violist, harpist, French horn player, a pedal steel player, theremin player, and an electronic effects person. Think of Hair or the classic Coca-Cola commercial.
If you’d like to check The Polyphonic Spree out for yourself, e-mail us your name, e-mail address, and phone number to contest (at) houstonist (dot) com. The contest closes at noon on Friday. If you don’t win, go check out the show; we’re sure they need help in payroll for that line-up.

Happy St. Patrick's Day: Where to Celebrate!

I've seen 'em, and I think everyone should see them at least once.
Are they're still wearing the white robes? Early on, I heard them described as being like "Up With People" on acid, which I thought was pretty spot-on.
I second the motion that they are To Be Seen™!
They aren't wearing the white robes anymore, they're wearing the pseudo-militant black uniforms seen in the photo.
I'd love to see 'em on Monday - after a weekend out of town,. . . we'll see.
