Okay not really…except kind of…well, yes. Let’s explain.
So as you know 4 Houston Dynamo players are out due to national team play in the CONCACAF gold cup. Pat Onstad and Dwayne De Rosario are playing for Canada while Brian Ching and Ricardo Clark are playing for the U.S. team. Both teams have advanced to the semi-finals and are set to play each other tonight at 6pm. This should be an excellent match as both the U.S. and Canada earned top spots in their groups during regular play. The winner of this game will move on to the final match which is set to take place this Sunday at 2pm.
In addition to having Dynamo teammates face each other in international play, there is also a Dynamo game (against Chivas USA) tonight at Robertson stadium in what Houstonist is calling the Summer Solstice Showdown. What ever is a true soccer fan to do? First, calm down maybe have a drink (after all it’s almost the weekend). Second, head over to Robertson stadium early and catch the Gold Cup game. There will be 4 big screen TVs outside Robertson stadium showing the U.S. vs. Canada match, after that game head inside the stadium to watch Dynamo.
If you can’t make it out to Robertson stadium, tonight’s Dynamo game will be broadcast on ESPN2 as the MLS primetime game. The Dynamo are hoping to keep their winning streak alive after some much needed rest. A win tonight, would bump the Dynamo to the number 2 spot in the Western Conference, just behind FC Dallas. Let’s go Dynamo!
