The big show this week, of course, is the reunion of The Police. But if you don’t feel like paying $100 to see Sting sing songs he sings at his solo concerts too (OK, yes, it’s different since Summers and Copeland are with him, but is it that different?), then you can opt for some other good shows Friday night: singer/songwriter Radney Foster (now writing hits for other people) plays two shows at the Duck; lots of local acts on stage at Walter’s on Washington (a “benefit” show to help a musician buy back some equipment that was stolen); or, a good solid local double-bill at Rudyard’s with Southern Backtones and Tody Castillo.
What? Already have plans Friday night? Well, then check out local jazz/funk band Drop Trio and Houston’s ultra-ecentric chamber music outfit Two Star Symphony at Avant Garden (the old Helios). Also, Louisiana's blues/rock/pop artist Marc Broussard comes back to Houston (Warehouse Live) Saturday night.
