Tomorrow night at The World Famous Orange Show, for the low, low price of $10 - you can hear four brands of new folk music. QuadroFolkia will be headlined by Jana Hunter - backed by a full band! Now, we know we told you there was a burgling incident - however, we have been assured that the show will go on! If there is a merchandise table, you really should pick up her new CD - we love it! Jana's record label is Devendra Barnhart's Gnomonsong and she's been said to be more "freak folk". Jana is said to be possibly moving East (like to Baltimore or something) so this may be one of your last opportunities to see her perform for awhile.
Also on the bill - Castanets which lend a stripped down Brooklyn meets San Diego sound to the venue. We have heard a "Beck with two turntables" comparison (hey, there should be two turntables AND a microphone). Pink Nasty is touring in support of her sophomore album release "Mold the Gold" - this Kansas native sounds a touch like Shawn Colvin and has made a name for herself in Austin's folk scene (no small feat there!). Hopefully, she'll wow us with her epic song about BTK. Last, and certainly not least - former Houstonian Macon Terry rounds out the bill, along with several members of his group Jumbo Special, also former Houstonians. Macon Terry is now based out of Boulder, Colorado.
