We figured it was worth recapping the traffic closures coming downtown in the next couple of days as part of the Freedom Over Texas celebration — so if you're planning to drive that way, pay attention:
As of 10 a.m. today, the exit ramps to Allen Parkway from I-45 north- and southbound are closed, as is the ramp from Walker Avenue to Allen Parkway. The inbound lanes of Allen Parkway are closed at Taft and the inbound feeder road is closed at Crosby. The outbound lanes of Allen Parkway are closed at Bagby, and so are the intersections of Memorial and Sabine and West Dallas and Gillette.
At 9 p.m. today, the ramp from Walker Avenue to Sabine Street will close, but the loop from Walker back to McKinney will remain open.
At 4 p.m. Wednesday, Allen Parkway's inbound lanes will close at Montrose, and Memorial Drive will be closed in both directions between Bagby and Waugh. The intersections of Memorial and Silver, Washington and Sawyer, Dallas and Heiner and West Dallas and Crosby will also close.
Between 5 and 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, vehicles and pedestrians will not be allowed in the fireworks fallout area along Memorial Drive between Sabine and Studemont. The Sabine Street Bridge will be closed to all traffic, vehicular and pedestrian, between 5 and 10 p.m., and Buffalo Bayou will be closed to water traffic between Capitol and Studemont.
All outbound lanes and one inbound lane of Allen Parkway, will reopen at 5 a.m. Thursday, as will Memorial Drive and nearby intersections. All the inbound lanes of Allen Parkway will reopen at noon Friday.
