Dynamo Face A Busy July

020307_dynamo.jpgIf you are a fan of Dynamo soccer, July is going to be an exciting month. Coming off of an undefeated six game streak, the Dynamo are set to play 7 games this month (not including the MLS all star game). If that weren’t enough, the team’s lineup has changed slightly with 1) the recent return of Ching and De Rosario (among others) from international play, 2) the unknown fate of mid-fielder Brad Davis who undergoes surgery knee today, and 3) the recent trade of midfielder Kelley Gray to the LA Galaxy for forward Nate Jaqua.

The first match is tonight (marking the halfway point of the MLS season), when Dynamo face off against NY Red Bulls at Robertson Stadium. The Dynamo will be up against a good NY team with one of the best strikers in the league, Juan Pablo Angel, who has scored 9 times in his last 8 games. It is expected that Stuart Holden will start for the injured Brad Davis. The start time for tonight’s game is 7 pm (assuming the rain holds off) and the game will be broadcast on ESPN2 – although we recommend watching the game in person. Note after tonight’s Dynamo game a second soccer match between Motagua of Honduras and Chivas of Mexico will take place, this match however will not be televised.

On Sunday, the Dynamo take on one of the MLS’ top teams, D.C. United, at Robertson Stadium. The team will then travel to Chicago to play The Fire next Thursday (July 12) – this will again be broadcast on ESPN2, but why not enjoy it with other fans at the official Dynamo game watch location. Then it is another quick turn around, when the Dynamo take on Toronto FC at Robertson Stadium Sunday July 15. Then a small break for some of the team, as the MLS Allstar team takes on Celtic FC. After the break the Dynamo head to Massachusetts to take on the New England Revolution on July 22. The Dynamo then finish the month with SuperLiga play against Club America (July 25) and Monarcas Morelia (July 29th).

Exciting time to be a soccer fan indeed!
