Since June 25th, the Alley Theatre and Angelika Film Center have presented Murder Mondays. A film series that complements the Alley Theatre’s ExxonMobil Summer Chills production of Agatha Christie’s Death on the Nile (July 6–July 29).

Screenings are held at the Angelika Film Center and introduced by James Black, director of Agatha Christie’s Death on the Nile.

Tonight will be the final film in the series:

Death on the Nile
Directed by John Guillermin
UK, 1978

"This is one of Christie’s own favorite stories, which she adapted as a play in 1947 and will be the Alley’s 2007 ExxonMobil Summer Chills offering. The film was intended as a follow-up to the tremendous success of Murder on the Orient Express and it is every bit as enjoyable to watch. Peter Ustinov replaces Finney as Poirot here, and the cast that surrounds him is first rate: Bette Davis, David Niven, Jack Warden, Mia Farrow, Jane Birkin, and Maggie Smith are all wonderful but Angela Lansbury steals the show as a drunken writer of romance novels. With Houston’s own Lois Chiles, never more beautiful as Linnet Ridgeway. Screenplay by Anthony Shaffer (Sleuth, Murder on the Orient Express) and directed by John Guillermin (The Towering Inferno)."
