City-wide Wi-Fi Is Coming, Protect Yourself
A recent story in the Chronicle states that city-wide wifi will require users to download tools to help protect themselves while online. The Tech Buzz feels that the responsibility falls on the user to protect themselves while online regardless if the wifi is free or belongs to the city. Everyone should take precautions and be careful when transmitting sensitive data over wifi. That's just common sense.

HAAUG Swap Meet
It's coming, HAAUG's semi-annual swap meet happens next Saturday the 21st at the Hilton Hotel on the UH campus in the Shamrock Room. The event will be held from 9am-2pm and registration is required if you plan on swapping stuff. Check out all the details here.

Pothole Hunting Goes High Tech
The folks over at abc13.com have taken pot hole hunting to a whole new level. They have a mapping system that allows you to add potholes you have discovered, most likely by running over them first. If you know of dangerous potholes, report them on this website and abc13.com will report them to the City Public Works department. You hit 'em and map 'em and they'll report 'em.

Start A Web-Based Business While On Lunch
The Houston Technology Center will be hosting a seminar on how to start a web-based business. The seminar will be held on July 18th from noon to 1pm, pre-registration is free or $15 at the door on the day of the event. Bring your lunch and HTC will provide drinks and cookies while you learn how to make millions online.
