Two local pharmacies were burglarized last night. The first was Cunningham pharmacy on Airline near near Ellena Road were investigators say at least 3 people pryed the doors open. The bandits took off with codeine syrup and cash. Their next target was Champions pharmacy just down Airline, where the burglars broke into the vacant space next door to the pharmacy and then broke through the wall. A logical move when you are high on codeine syrup.
"I'd like to see the landlord secure the building next door," owner James Grant said. "That's what hasn't been done. It's too easy for them to come in. They can just walk through that back door, then destroy that wall, then they're in."
At this pharmacy however, it appears the intruders were unable to find what they were looking for, and did not take any drugs or cash.
Given the close proximity of the burglaries, it appears that the same group of people are involved in both incidents. The investigation is still in progress, however, so if you have any information you are asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
