Ever wonder what street is named after an Irish saloonkeeper and Civil War hero who was known for his a drink called “kiss me quick and go”? (This is jsut a guess, but is that the correct way to pronounce Kuykendahl?)

Join the Heritage Society for a Hill/Finger Noontime lecture on Thursday, July 19, 2007 from 12 to 1 p.m. as Marks Hinton, a retired investment consultant and now free-lance writer, presents Historic Houston Streets: The Stories Behind the Names.

Hinton is a continuing contributor to Houston’s cultural and historical milieu, and through his book, Historic Houston Streets, was able to document the fascinating history of the streets you travel on everyday.

Also, hear about “Dick” Dowling and other stories as the Heritage Society hosts its most recent lecture series.

All Lectures are free. Guests may purchase a lunch for $10 or bring their own.
