Biggio and Infernal Bridegroom Productions announce they're leaving us on the same day? Say it ain't so, Tamarie. Unfortunately for us, it is: IBP announced in a press release that was also posted on their website yesterday that they have "ceased operations this month due to insurmountable financial difficulties." Is it too late to get the mayor's fundraising people on this? IBP produced 68 plays since their founding in 1993, and we're sure each and every one was a delight. To say we'll miss them is an understatement. Here's to fourteen great years, guys.
>> Houston out-greens almost everyone: In a study that surveyed nineteen of America's major cities, Houston ranked third in parkspace per capita - that's 27.2 acres for every 1,000 Houstonians. We're waaaay up from the below-average 16.5 we had last year. So where are all these new parks? Well, that's not exactly what happened - this year, the study was more careful about their methods, and the city was able to report almost twice as much acreage as they did last year (including all 12,000 Lake Houston acres). The mayor asked for a recount after seeing some earlier figures that he thought were too small, and are we ever glad he did. We'd hate to be, say, ninth on the list, like that other city in Texas. The study's full report is available on their website.
>>Talk radio's all shook up: For those of you who prefer to spend your time on the AM dial, get ready for some changes: KPRC and KTRH have both recently announced new schedules. The new schedules can be viewed here and here. Notable changes include Michael Berry moving from the morning to 7pm and the addition of one of our old favorites, Phil Hendrie. We were super disappointed to learn that he's dropped the old format though. All in all, the changes don't really do much for us - we'd still take KUHF or KPFT over these goons any day.
>> Today's weather: Promise not to shoot the messenger: the forecast calls for some clouds and thunderstorms, especially as the day progresses. Look for the bad weather to move in this afternoon and stay through the evening with temperatures ranging from 73 to 90 over the whole day.

Hendrie's still doing voices and is up to his old shtick. He said he was going to not do that with his new show but after a few days he started bringing his old voices back. It doesn't hold my interest anymore but if you like his stuff, he's got an archive of his recent shows at
