That which we call a free show , by any other name would smell as free. And with that poor, poor attempt at Shakespearean quote alteration, Houston kicks off the annual Shakespeare Festival.

Now celebrating its thirty-third season, The Houston Shakespeare Festival has grown into one of the major events on Houston's summer entertainment calendar, attracting more than 475,000 people in its recent history. Festival audiences are an exciting mix of ethnic groups, young people, adults, and families who are able to experience, perhaps for the first time in an era when entertainment costs are often prohibitive to many, the excitement of live theatre.

All performances are at 8:30 pm at the Miller Outdoor Theatre-Located in Hermann Park. Performances are free to the public, but tickets are required for covered seating. Tickets are available (four per person) on the day of performance at the Miller Box Office between 11:30 am and 1:00 pm and again one hour before performance. All unclaimed seats are released 5 minutes before curtain. For further information, contact the Miller Theatre Box Office at (713) 284-8352.
