Good morning, Houston. Weather got you down? Here's a fun story to lighten your mood: drunk astronauts. A report on astronaut mental health (undertaken after the infamous Lisa Nowak incident) revealed that NASA has sent astronauts into space totally sloshed. This happened in spite of the fact that they put a ban on alcohol consumption at least 12 hours before launch. Oops. We hope they're not too hard on the astronauts. After all, it's lonely out in space.
>> Katy Freeway closures: There are a bunch of closures on I-10 this weekend, so let's run through them real quick. Eastbound lanes between 610 and Washington Avenue will close at 9 p.m. Friday until 8 a.m. Saturday. 610's connectors to the eastbound Katy Freeway will be closed, as will the entry ramps from Chimney Rock and Silber. From 9 p.m. Saturday to 8 a.m. Sunday, the westbound lanes from Washington to the West Loops will be shut down. The 610-I-10 westbound connectors will also be closed at this time. Then there's still all the Beltway 8 interchange stuff to deal with, so good luck making your weekend drive out to Katy (ha ha). >> What's up? Not gas prices: Gas prices are down all over Texas this week. Gas retailed for $2.85, 5 cents less than last week. The national average dropped as well, to $2.94. That's 8 cents less than last week. The most expensive gas in Texas can be found in Amarillo, while the cheapest is in Corpus Christi (but it's probably not worth the drive). Houston's gas is below the average, at $2.789, down 5 cents. We're not sure what caused the gas prices to fall, but we're also not sure that we care.
>> Today's weather: Scattered thunderstorms, humidity, temperatures in the 80s. What else is new? Our chance of precipitation is 60%, but the sky indicates otherwise, and we're in for more of the same this weekend. When did we die and go to Seattle?

Ah, that old chestnut.
I used it in your honor.
